January 2017 Favorites // Makeup
I spent much of January back in NYC, attending events and seeing friends. So when traveling, I tend to pack lightly because I know I'll be doing some major makeup shopping while there. Three things mentioned below, I bought while there and haven't stopped using them since!
Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham // Morning Aura Illuminating Creme
When I bought this last September when I was still living in NYC, I didn't find the chance to use it too often. I loved the glowy, "sweaty-sexy" skin it gave me, but I found that I ended up sweaty-not sexy at all, after a day on the subway and walking around. But now in Vegas, this creme has come in very handy. It has been perfect in this drier climate, helping me look more healthy and glowy! (And apologies for even mentioning this limited edition product. I believe it's sold out everywhere. Hopefully they'll bring it back!)
I bought this while in NYC after watching one of Kathleen Light's videos. I had every other tone in this powder, and this one seemed perfect - I had to get it. On lazy days when I don't feel like wearing foundation, I put on the Illuminating Creme, a little concealer and then powder this all over my face. It gives the most beautiful, natural sheen to the skin. Such a great combo with the creme.
Another product I bought in NYC, this blush palette is made of dreams! Upon first glance, it didn't seem like any of the shades would work for me, but after swatching and wearing them, I love them all! The Euphoric Fusion was most surprising. I thought it would be way too plum, but it has such a lovely rosy hue. And I love mixing the Incandescent Electra and Brilliant Nude shades together. Gorgeous - highly recommend!
This was the perfect companion on my travels. Portable with mattes and shimmers that created natural or dramatic looks. Full review here, if you're interested.
This lip pencil is the perfect texture and tone. It glides on very smoothly, but stays put. And while I love the Charlotte Tilbury Iconic Nude, this shade is just a teensy bit warmer and pairs very well with glosses or sheer lipsticks.
This was one of the original things I bought from Sephora probably about... 20 years ago - the Rouge Shine. I love the fruity scent, moisturizing formula and this particular color is nude with a touch of shimmer. It adds just enough to the lips, and over a lip liner it's a great substitute for lipstick. While it doesn't stay on very long, I don't mind reapplying this like a lip balm.
Last, but not least, this is another item I bought while in NYC. I've been struggling with my eyebrows, and have depended on the Glossier Boy Brow or the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel. But I wanted a pencil to color in the sparse areas, and the Anastasia pencils were always too soft and pigmented for me. This Hourglass version is much waxier and the pencil comes off very lightly giving you the opportunity to build up the color slowly. And I love the shape and the spooly is awesome.
What were some of your favorites from this past month? I'd love to know!! Don't forget to use Ebates to get cash back!!
Hope everyone's 2017 is off to a fabulous start! xoxo
