Round-Up // Liquid Eyeshadows
None of these products are new to the market, but many are new to me. I've been giving them a lot of attention lately looking for a simple eye look. I've been in the mood for a one swipe, one color look that's a sort of no muss no fuss situation.
I had purchased the Armani Eye Tints awhile back and really liked their simplicity, both in application and look. So I've been on the hunt for others ever since. Since then I've picked up:
- Maybelline Color Tattoo Eye Chromes in Bronze Sheen and Khaki Kool
- YSL Full Metal Shadow in Steamy Coral (#5) and Aquatic Copper (#7)
- Wander Beauty Exquisite Eye Liquid Shadow in Champagne
I have to say they're all fairly different and I like them all for different reasons.
The Armani Eye Tints and Wander Beauty's Liquid Shadow are the most similar. I find them to have the most consistent application. They take just a little bit to set, and when they're set they're not fully smudge proof. I can wipe my finger across them and a residue will be on my fingertip. But their formulas are comfortable, and their colors are very wearable, both day and night.
I picked up the YSL Full Metal Shadows because I was attracted to their colors. A bit more "fun" - the Steamy Coral especially. There is the slightest bit of an iridescent sheen to it. But their application is a little too wet making it patchy. I think the colors are worth waiting for the first application to dry down, and then go in with another layer. Both of the colors I purchased are very beautiful and probably more appropriate for evening.
Now, the Maybelline Color Tattoo Eye Chromes were a total surprise. I could not believe how pigmented them were upon first swipe. These guys dried down and completely set and did not budge one bit! The downside for me is that because they're so smudgeproof, the shadow sits on your lid like you have a piece of tape on it. It feels like it would crack if you bent it. And removing it off of my eyes takes a little too much elbow grease. I appreciate it, and I know it will come in handy one of these nights I need it to stay put. But for everyday wear it's a little overkill for me.
While in Sephora this past week I saw Armani's new Eye Tints in the Matte colors. I swatched them and since they're matte, I felt like they just made my skin look dirty. I think liquid eyeshadows need a bit of shimmer. Maybe it could be a good base, but I don't think I'd use it for a single swipe situation. Have you guys tried those? What do you think?
